Mark Rosen pays tribute at Twin Cities Get Your Rear in Gear 5K
WCCO-TV sports director and anchor Mark Rosen paid tribute to his friend and colleague Bob Rainey by leading a team of walkers and runners at yesterday’s successful Get Your Rear In Gear 5K. Rainey was a fellow sports reporter and weekend anchor at WCCO-TV. He passed away last year at the age of 46 after a difficult battle with colon cancer. Team t-shirts with Rainey’s image on the front set the WCCO team apart as they participated in the 5K run and walk. Rosen, whose sister is a colon cancer survivor, shared a personal message and video footage of the Get Your Rear In Gear event in his newscast on Sunday.

Dear Mr. Rosen,
I live in Louisville, Ky and had the great honor of being a friend to Bob Rainey. He and my daughter were very close and we loved him dearly. Everytime we speak of him we cry. He was one of the most (if not the most) wonderful person we knew. After reading this article and saw you had t-Shirts with Bob’s image I wanted to write you to ask if by any chance you had 2 left that you could send me. I would be happy to pay for them. It would mean so me to my daughter and I. I appreciate your kindness to him and know how much he loved the WCCO family. We had Bob here at Fox 41 and he became part of our family. Thanks again and if by some chance you have a couple of shirts extra please e-mail me and I will send my address and a check to you.
Sincerely
Mary Ann Lewis
