Mayo Clinic hosts running program at Mall of America
Whether your goal is to finish a Get Your Rear in Gear 5K, complete a marathon, or simply to shed a few pounds, athletes of all levels can participate in Saturday’s running clinic at the Mall of America hosted by the Mayo Clinic. The clinic will take place in the Sears Court from 12pm – 3pm. The event will feature Mayo experts from the Sports Medicine Center and Jeff Galloway, Olympic runner and author. In this video, Edward Laskowski, M.D., co-director of Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center, describes the events of the day. He explains, “you shouldn’t play your sport to be in shape, you should be in shape to play your sport. And that is especially true for runners.” During the event, experts will discuss how to prevent common injuries, gait analysis, and long distance training issues. The event is free to the public and attendees are encouraged to wear their running shoes. Registration brochures for the upcoming Twin Cities Get Your Rear in Gear 5K Run/Walk will be available at the event. The 5K will be held May 16, 2010 at Southdale Center in Edina.
